Thoughtful Updates for a New Construction Home

After settling into their newly constructed home in Newtown Square, PA, our clients quickly realized they were ready to add some bold and colorful choices to the beautiful furnishings we had already selected.  

As an experienced interior designer in Newtown Square, PA, we often work with homeowners who want to elevate their new construction properties. In this case, our clients invited us back for two focused updates: transforming the home office with bold color and installing a custom stair runner to enhance both safety and visual continuity.

While these changes may seem simple, the results were anything but.

Introducing Bold, Strategic Color

Rather than adding small decorative accents, we made a decisive move: enveloping the office in a rich, saturated hue that instantly created mood and dimension.  The result is a home office that feels grounded, productive, and distinctly personal — a true retreat within the home.

Custom Stair Runner Installation

The staircase is one of the most visible architectural elements in any home. In this Newtown Square residence, it sits prominently at the entry foyer.  The hardword stairs were beautiful but felt unsafe to our client.  Installing this bold and colorful custom stair runner improved safety. The runner transformed the staircase from a pass-through feature into a designed focal point.

The Transformation

With just two targeted updates, the shift was dramatic.

The home office now feels intentional and sophisticated. The staircase feels integrated and welcoming rather than stark.

From Empty to Cozy

We’ve worked with these clients on multiple projects over the years but they brought us back recently to furnish this conservatory.  Before the redesign, this massive room with striking architectural features had been empty and without purpose. As interior designers in Chester County PA, we saw an opportunity to celebrate the room’s scale while making it truly livable for a busy family.

Given the room’s impressive bones, we knew the architecture itself needed to shine. To highlight the dramatic vaulted ceiling, we added dark beams, which provided a visual anchor and enhanced the room’s natural grandeur. These beams created a rustic yet modern touch, making the large space feel more intimate.

To soften the room and make it feel cozier, we added miles of white linen drapes, which turned the windows into a stunning focal point. The drapes added softness and created a singular “wow” moment, making this large space feel cozy.

A plush, kid-friendly sectional was then brought in to serve as the central seating area, while a textured carpet was added to provide warmth and coziness underfoot. Together, these elements transformed the conservatory into a relaxed, inviting space perfect for a busy family.

Bath Design in Chester County PA

When our client asked for a “Prohibition Farmhouse” aesthetic, we knew this bath remodel needed to blend vintage grit, moody atmosphere, and farmhouse warmth without becoming literal or theme-like. Our interpretation resulted in a richly layered space that feels dramatic, cozy, and completely unexpected, all grounded in thoughtful bath design.

A bold botanical wallpaper envelops the room in a deep, story-filled mood reminiscent of hidden speakeasies and historic farmhouses alike. To balance the drama, we added green board-and-batten wainscot, giving the room architectural structure and a traditional farmhouse feel.

We continued the layered approach with handmade mustard tiles. The vanity became a standout feature: a vintage console that we transformed into a custom furniture-style vanity, topped with an oversized vessel sink and a brass wall-mounted gooseneck faucet.

Slate flooring grounds the entire design with its durable, rustic texture, perfectly complementing the room’s moody palette.

The result is a bathroom that interprets “Prohibition Farmhouse” with sophistication and imagination. It’s a blend of era-inspired character and elevated bath design, creating a delightfully surprising space.

This new construction project on the Main Line exemplifies the perfect blend of timeless design and modern touches.  From the cabinetry layout to the carefully selected finishes, every detail was meticulously thought out to reflect both function and style. Timeless White Kitchen With a Twist

For this Main Line Interior Design project, we designed a kitchen that exudes both simplicity and sophistication. Sleek quartz countertops with subtle veining offer a durable and elegant surface.  Polished nickel hardware and lighting fixtures add a touch of luxury.

One of the standout features in the kitchen is the use of warm wood mid-century stools at the island. These stools bring warmth and texture to the otherwise crisp and clean design. The combination of the white cabinetry, rich wood, and polished metal creates a kitchen that feels both contemporary and timeless.

Bold Breakfast Room

The Breakfast Room seamlessly connects to the kitchen as part of an open floor plan. A bold, geometric orange and black vinyl rug immediately catches the eye. 

The dining table with hidden leaves, expands to serve 10.  The striking veneer on the back of the chairs feels unique and fresh while the vinyl interiors are functional and easy to clean.

This Main Line Interior Design project is a perfect example of blending timeless elements with fresh, modern details. The end result is a kitchen and breakfast room that are as practical as they are beautiful.

When our former client needed bathroom designers for a Main Line home renovation, the goal was clear: create a beautiful, contemporary bathroom they could enjoy for the next few years while ensuring strong resale appeal when it’s time to downsize. The result is a thoughtfully redesigned space that balances personal style with broad, future-buyer appeal.

Reimagining the Floor Plan

To transform the room’s function and flow, we reworked the floor plan to optimize the space. Combining the separate seated vanity room into the bathroom allowed us to introduce a separate toilet room, and a 9-foot double vanity, offering abundant storage and counter space. We also TRIPLED the size of the shower, creating a spa-like experience that elevates life everyday.

Contemporary Materials and Elevated Details

Our design centers on contemporary slim shaker cabinets. Paired with elegant polished nickel plumbing fixtures and hardware, the space feels fresh, refined, and cohesive. These high-end finishes not only enhance the client’s daily experience but also appeal to a wide range of future buyers.

A Bold Touch Designed for Flexibility

To introduce personality without compromising resale readiness, we incorporated striking chinoiserie green mirrors above the vanity. These mirrors make a memorable design statement yet can be swapped easily should the next homeowner prefer a different aesthetic.

Establishing a Calm, Cohesive Foundation

We began by refreshing the entire first floor with a new coat of paint and updated lighting throughout. Soft, neutral wall colors were selected to create a calming backdrop, one that would unify the space while allowing the more expressive design elements to shine.  As a result, the new palette immediately softened transitions from room to room. Updated light fixtures replaced dated builder-grade selections, adding subtle character and improving the overall ambiance.  Together, these updates created the quiet structure necessary for the rest of the design to unfold intentionally.

A Powder Room with Personality

The powder room became one of the most delightful transformations in the home. Working alongside a trusted handyman and wallpaper installer, we introduced statement wallpaper and a deep green vanity. Powder Rooms offer a wonderful opportunity to introduce bold personality in a contained, memorable way. This refreshed space now feels layered and confident rather than overlooked.

A Bold Dining Room That Sets the Tone

Since the dining room is visible from the front entry, it plays an important role in shaping first impressions. An oversized, colorful painting now commands the room, offering a vibrant welcome and setting the tone for the spaces beyond.  To complement this focal point, we thoughtfully repurposed modern blue and teal floral draperies that had been made for the client’s previous home. 

A Connected First Floor Through Color

The beauty of this interior decorating project near West Chester, PA lies in its strategic use of color.  Throughout the space, shades of blue and teal move from primary to secondary roles. This subtle variation creates rhythm and flow. We designed a striking basement bar that serves as party central for family and friends. The bold blue cabinetry is the focal point and 2 drink fridges bring functionality. With six leather stools, there’s plenty of seating at the bar for friends and family to gather. Sony’s Frame TV is another highlight of this area, perfectly positioned for displaying dramatic artwork or the big game.

Don’t Forget the Ceiling

To enhance the cozy and dramatic feel of the bar, we designed a matching blue coffered ceiling and added classic gold pendants. The ceiling detail adds depth and character while effectively concealing the dropped HVAC ductwork above.

A Luxurious Bathroom Oasis

One of the standout features of this basement renovation is the elegant bathroom. A dreamy blue wallpaper envelops the space while the 3-dimensional chevron shower tile adds visual interest. The unique cabinet hardware shows how even small details can make a significant impact on the design.
