A Cozy Retreat

What started as a room filled with clothing racks and shoe boxes became a welcoming guest bedroom designed for family. For this interior design project in Kennett Square, PA, our empty-nest client wanted a welcoming guest bedroom for her daughter and granddaughter to enjoy on their visits.

Our client wanted to create something beautiful without investing in high-end furnishings that wouldn’t get everyday use. Starting with an empty room, I selected budget-friendly furniture and bedding.  These selections reflected the client’s traditional personal style.

Through the process of developing my client’s unique Design Fingerprint, we landed on a calm, low-contrast palette of sage, beige, and white. The soft colors create a peaceful backdrop, while traditional furniture gives the room a timeless, feminine feel.

A floor-to-ceiling mirror adds light and visual impact.  Artwork featuring a soft, flowing water scene brings a quiet sense of calm to the room. Floral embroidered draperies add softness and warmth, making the room feel finished and inviting.

But the real goal was more than just creating a pretty guest room. We wanted their family to feel that someone had created this lovely space because they are loved and welcome here.  This room says, “We made a place for you.”
